Are you near Windsor or maidenhead and in love with real, honest, natural newborn photography?  Me too!

I have photographed many newborn babies and it’s most definitely the photos of them stretching, yawning or curled up on a blanket that I love and am drawn to the most.  There are no props used or much colour because I know my clients want the focus on the baby in that moment.  We want the photographs I take to show the little details that make newborn babies so special and unique; flaky skin, pink feet, pouty lips, milk spots on the nose.  Isn’t that what everyone will want to remember when they look back at pictures of their child in 20 years?

All of my newborn baby clients are given the option of a maternity session at around 30-35 weeks as well.  The aim of this session is to capture you and your baby bump as naturally as possible.

Here you should find everything you need to know about my newborn sessions, which can take place either in your home or at my studio.

Option 1- Natural, baby led newborn sessions in my Maidenhead, Berkshire studio

“When we arrived we were welcomed and made to feel at home, it was a very relaxed few hours watching Fiona take pictures of our new son”

Newborn photography sessions can take place at my home studio, in Holyport, Berkshire, which is in-between Maidenhead and Windsor.  The newborn photo shoot will take approximately two hours and is a really relaxing experience.  You sit with me as I place your baby on a lovely comfy posing beanbag and you are free to watch, sleep, eat, do whatever you need to do!  I take photographs of all the little details like their pursed lips, tiny feet, milk spot noses, downy hair and flaky skin.  I’ll aim to capture images of them dressed in their brand new baby grows, and curled up in fresh blankets.

“I trusted Fiona 100% with our baby”

You are welcome and encouraged to get in photographs with your baby. I photograph close up to capture the candid moments and emotion and am very aware that women don’t necessarily want to be photographed in full, so I make sure to flatter and think of how I felt when I had just had my babies.  If you have older children I love for them to get in the photos with their new sibling.  Do not worry about them getting bored at the studio; I have two boys, so I have a house full of toys that they can play with and they always love coming here (I often have emails to say that children have requested to come back to play).  My motto is a happy toddler makes a happy session so we all aim to make the older child(ren) feel super happy and secure which ensures a lovely, relaxed session all round.

Option 2- Candid photos of your newborn baby with the family

In the comfort of your home (areas covered - Windsor, Maidenhead, Holyport, Bray, Binfield, Marlow, Bracknell ,Wokingham, Reading, Slough and surrounding areas)

“Fiona was so great, such patience and a real expert at getting the best shots”

I also offer ‘In Home’ photo shoots for those that want their images to include their home comforts and surrounding.  These tend to take roughly 2 hours and follow more of a lifestyle approach to include a mixture of pictures of your baby in their moses basket asleep / on the bed / snuggled with you on the sofa and any natural candid moments that take place.  It is preferable that you have good light in at least two rooms for this to happen, if you are unsure we can always discuss and decide which is better – studio or at home.

“Wow, wow, wow.  They are all such wonderful photos, thank you sooooo much”.

After your studio or home session the wait for your gallery is usually around 2 weeks, and as I know you will be desperate to see some photos before then, I normally share one or two on my Facebook or Instagram page as a preview.  You will receive a gallery of watermarked images (black and white and colour are included as standard) to look at and then choose your favourites and which additional packages you may like.  This is all done within the comfort of your own home, so no added pressure from me.

Post photo shoot: A choice of packages to suit your budget and style

I offer digital packages as well as beautiful products to make the most of the images you buy and ensure they don’t end up sat in a drawer.  During your session I will show you the different products that I can provide should you wish to purchase beautiful artwork of your baby to display in your home, or keepsakes to treasure forever and pass down to them when they are older.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Shall I have a home or studio photo shoot?  It depends on what sort of photos you are looking for.  If you want the emphasis to be mainly on the baby (getting all of the newborn details close up) with added ones of you all together then a studio session is best.  If you'd rather have more pictures of the baby within their surroundings and with family then a home session is best.  Also think about how you might feel having me in your home.  Some people prefer to relax in my studio and be waited on.
  • How long do photo shoots take? Usually around 2 hours, but we are lead by the baby so it can  be longer or shorter.
  • What should I wear?  I will send you a guide once you have booked.  There is no need to buy new clothes for your photo shoot, but my guide will help to get the best possible photos - keeping the focus on the connection between you and your baby.  My preference is neutral, pastel colours and no big patterns or motifs.
  • What should I bring to the studio?  Just the baby and your baby bag full of what you normally need.  Plus a white or grey baby grow and any family treasures such as a shawl or teddy that you may like them photographed with.
  • How far do you travel for home sessions?  Within an hour of Maidenhead
  • Do we need to move furniture around?  No, the idea of a home session is that it is a record of your life as a new family in your home.  It should be left as it is but it is important that we have enough light, so if your house is particularly dark then a studio session may be better.
  • Do we get all the photos?  Your session fee doesn't include any images. You can choose which collection you would like either up front, or after viewing the online gallery.
  • What happens if my baby cries?  That's absolutely fine.  There is no pressure for them not to, they are a new baby so all get hungry or tired!  We let the baby lead the session 100%
  • Can we book a maternity session too?  Sure!  It's a great way to get to know you before the baby arrives and I offer them for just £99 to anyone booking a newborn session.
  • How far in advance shall I book?  As early as you feel comfortable, either after your 12 or 20 week scan.

I hope you like what you have read so far, please get in contact to book or find out more.
